"The value of achievement lies in the act of achieving.", Albert Einstein, October 1950

I am a PhD student in Numerical Analysis at the University of Bath and am supervised by Professor Ivan G. Graham.
Together we try to reduce the difficulties, that heterogeneous media can cause in the computation of underground water flows by developping clever preconditioners and analysing them numerically.

Furthermore I am very much interested at the moment in domain decompostion methods, H-matrices, multiscale (finite element) methods and financial mathematics and its applications. For more details please have a look at my publications, presentations and at the conferences, that I attended recently.

Next to my studies, I also work at the university as a
graduate teaching assistent and hopefully help to prepare many undergraduates for life (... and exams).

If you are in Bath, please come and visit me at my office (1W3.7). Here I work hard together with my brave office mates Andy, Dave, Melina, Simone and Stephano. Otherwise you can also always contact me by email: mappol@maths.bath.ac.uk or phone me: +44 (0)1225 386974.

For people like me, who love travelling, badminton or politics, please visit my galleries and feel free to use some of my great links to all the fantastic things in the World Wide Web.
